"Cherchez Le Creneau" This expression means "look for the hole." Let me help you find your 'career hole' and fill it! In 1996 Phillips Cables closed in Brockville, eliminating hundreds of positions. Four major employers contacted Phillips' HR to communicate their sadness about the closure and to say that, unfortunately, they had no openings for 99% of the laid-off staff. Each of the four companies were, however, interested in interviewing six particular people. Why did four different companies want the same six individuals? If an employer has an opening in a high-income position (i.e., Executive, Manager, Professional), they know that the job demands a certain level of wisdom, competency, skills and traits. This is exactly why four employers each wanted to interview the same six people -- it was well known that these specific individuals had reached those four aspects of expertise in their industry. In 2016 I celebrate my 30th year helping individuals in the mid-to-high income brackets re-establish their careers. I firmly believe that, even in a tight labour market, no one should have to accept a position beneath his or her potential. Below I list the key highlights of my Careeroute Program. Professor Judith Walters of Farleigh Dickinson University sent out career resumes to more than 300 companies, asking them to determine a starting salary. The hypothetical job candidates’ resumes were identical except that half used one of our techniques and half did not. Those using Careeroute had starting salaries 8-20% higher than those who didn’t.
